blinking screen..

Dark shadows begun to encroach the screen. She got up to turn on the lights. It was well past seven. The eyeliner had telltale signs of tear smudges. Nibbling on a cookie, she waited for the screen to blink. It was to come alive at six. The clock was heading to eight now. She looked away from the screen. The single 100 w Philips bulb had failed to evict darkness in pockets of the room.

She turned back longingly at the screen. And suddenly it came alive.

‘Hi, sorry, was caught up with work’

..oh , ok. How was your day ?

‘Tiring. Miss you.’

Miss you too. Do you love me ?

‘I do J’. Ok got to log out now, My wife is calling me.

‘Oh Ok..bye’

Her eyes were immobile, transfixed to the screen. An eerie silence hung once the screen stopped blinking. She fell back on to the bed. lost and forlorn.
